Wiedemann September 2021

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork ” (Psalm 19:1).

Hello faithful supporters and cherished partners.

Rejoice! You have been a part of a successful school year at our Village in Ghana!

We are joining the heavens in declaring the glory of God! Our schools remained open all year (since January 2021) and we finished the 2021 school year in September. The Lord protected the Village and provided for our needs. The teachers and students diligently followed the COVID protocols and the new school year starts in October.

We are thanking God that our schools continue to grow. We now have thirty-three teachers, a librarian, and an assistant to the headmaster. We will begin the new school year with 278 students, with 108 of those students beginning their education in our preschool. We praise God for His goodness to bring these students and teachers. Please pray that each of our students develops a deeper love of God and a wider love of learning as we put God’s Word to work.

Please enjoy the following pictures of school life at Rafiki Village Ghana!

Upon entering the gate, the students wash their hands.

After breakfast, the children walk to Assembly.

The school day begins on the sports court, where the Drum Core is playing and the Ghanaian Flag is flying. After the National pledge is recited, the national anthem is sung and prayer is offered, the Rafiki Classical Christian School day begins.

Students do not just walk to class, they march!

In the preschool, young minds are beginning to appreciate the good, the true, and the beautiful. They learn how creation reflects the glory of God and that God created each one of them in His image.

The Kindergarten class made “glasses” as part of their “My Eyes” unit.

In Primary School the students continue learning about creation and the Creator. Their frame of reference expands to cover the peoples of the world. Artwork from primary school is shown below.

People around the world have different types of homes.

Leaves, pebbles, seeds, feathers, and dirt reveal how symmetry displays God’s creativity, beauty, and majesty.

At the end of the school terms, each class acknowledges students who do their best for the Lord.

Below is Grade 3 on their Awards Day.

Angela, with her teacher and classmates, holds her Outstanding Student Certificate.

We had five resident students graduate from high school in May. This was the seventh commencement ceremony for our school. As they continue on with their education, we desire that they continue to seek God.

Please pray with us that our gracious God will always grant the graduates “the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him”.

We are always thrilled when a former student returns to teach in our schools. What a blessing to witness the fruit of God’s Word at work throughout the life of a Rafiki resident. Having recently graduated from university, Kojo is now the lead teacher for grade six. He is blessed to be a blessing. Please pray that all of our teachers will diligently seek to glorify God in all that they do.

I am still undergoing medical treatment here in the U.S.A. and praying to return to Africa soon. I long to be back in Ghana and I miss everyone in the Village very much. We know we can trust God’s Word and rest in His care. He is not only sovereign, omnipotent, and all wise, but He is love. While it has been a challenge to work from Tennessee, I am so thankful for technology that allows for the continual communication with the team there. Please continue to pray for my health to be restored and for my return to Ghana.

I am forever grateful for your faithful support, emails, cards, videos, texts, calls and most of all, your prayers. I was recently reminded that some of you have been a partner in ministry since I was in Ghana on my first assignment! The picture of me reading to two of our first orphans was taken in 2006!

I was recently notified by Rafiki Home Office that my support level is running a significant deficit. If you could prayerfully consider financially supporting my ministry with Rafiki, I would be very, very grateful. Please pray that the necessary funds come in.
