Lafage Dec 2017

Rafiki Foundation’s two missions, as we all know, are to help Africans know God and to help them raise their standard of living. The Rafiki Widows’ Program aims to do both. Christmas is an especially important time for the Widows’ Program.

Rafiki helps organize groups of needy women within our various local African church partner denominations who meet regularly to study the Bible and to teach, learn and produce high-quality handmade craft items. We order and purchase selected items for sale in one of our two shops located at Home Office in Florida and over the Internet. We purchase directly from the women who in turn bring grateful testimonies of how they are able to benefit from the extra income: paying school fees for their children, installing electricity in their home, or perhaps purchasing a brood sow.

As Christmas time approaches, our craftswomen are even more eager to produce and deliver products to earn extra money. Here around Kampala, many people are from “THE VILLAGE” i.e. the “up country” place where they were born and where their large extended family resides. Our Widows, like so many others, pray and work extra hard to be able to travel “home to THE VILLAGE” with their children. Transportation is expensive, and they cannot go empty-handed, so there are gifts to be bought as well. Consequently, we plan for the Christmas rush as our various groups deliver large portions of their orders.

This year our Uganda Widows have made special new products for Christmas. Take a look! These are on the way to the Rafiki Exchange and may be available to you soon.
