“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Lisa’s travels visiting six of Rafiki’s ten Villages in May went well. She would like to share with you a couple of highlights from her trip. One highlight was sitting in on morning devotions with a cottage of Rafiki girls in Zambia. Each morning the children in Rafiki’s orphan care program start their day having a family devotion time. On this particular morning the girls began by singing the hymn “Near the Cross,” which they sang from memory and with beautiful harmony. It was a reminder to her of how important the work is of saving these children from destitution and bringing them to live at the Rafiki Village where they are taught to know the Lord and given a quality education to prepare them to be godly contributors in their country. Lisa is so thankful to be a part of this work transforming the lives of these children and your support has enabled her to go and oversee their care and be the hands and feet of Jesus there. These children know the Lord and are being trained to be disciples who are going out into their communities sharing the gospel. We are praying for all of our Rafiki children to have godly families to raise up another generation of godly contributors to their countries.
Another highlight of Lisa’s trip was the group’s visit to a partner school, Eagle’s Nest, in Lilongwe, Malawi. Eagle’s Nest is using the Rafiki School Curriculum and Rafiki Bible Study to reach the least of these in Lilongwe. They are seeing the fruit from the children studying the Bible each day in the children’s lives and their families. We visited this school to encourage them and look for ways to help them expand their work. They have recently sent three of their teachers to observe our school in Rafiki Village Malawi to learn more about how to teach classically. We are so thankful for dear friends and partners who not only share a love for the Lord but also the mission of spreading the gospel. We are praying for 1,000 schools in Africa to be using Rafiki’s Bible Study and School Curriculum.
Visiting Eagle’s Nest
Rafiki recently took advantage of Amazon Prime Day and posted a list of books for people to purchase for our Rafiki School libraries. Because of many people’s generosity 674 books were ordered from our school book list and Del has been busy helping to receive these books at the Home Office and get them processed and ready to be shipped to our various Villages. Del has also been busy purchasing supplies to be sent out on Rafiki’s next container to Tanzania. He is ordering the items and working to make sure they are getting to the Home Office on time to be shipped out soon. He also orders from our printing department curriculum, Rafiki Sunday School materials for partner churches, and Rafiki Bible Study material to be shipped to each Village. We are praying that many churches in Africa would decide to use the Rafiki Sunday School materials .
Lastly, we wanted to include a picture of the latest high school graduates from Rafiki Village Rwanda. These sixteen young men and women all attended the Rafiki Classical Christian School in Rwanda; eight of them are Rafiki orphans and the other eight are day students from the community. All eight orphan children are applying to and pursuing degrees in universities in Rwanda, including social work, business management, and medicine. Many of our Rafiki graduates are starting Bible studies at their universities. We are praying that all of our resident children have meaningful and gainful work and serve in their communities.
