Theodore and Crystal Wilson

Theodore and Crystal Wilson first heard of the Rafiki Foundation during an online classical Christian education conference in 2020. God revealed a unique mission field to them: serving his children in Africa through a medium that was already dear to their hearts—classical Christian education.

In January 2021, the couple attended short-term mission training; by June of that year, they were serving in Kenya as short-term missionaries. The opportunities to encourage and share the love of Christ with the Village residents and interact with the dedicated local staff in the school had such an impact on them that they began praying for a chance to return to Africa as soon as they came home! In January 2022, they committed to serving with Rafiki as long-term missionaries and they arrived on the field in Kenya in November 2022.

Theodore is an ordained minister with an interdisciplinary M.A. and a J.D. degree. Over the past 30 years, he has served as a chaplain in the military and several other institutional settings. He has also served as a classical Christian school administrator, teacher, and coach. Theodore now uses his gifts to serve God as Headmaster at the Rafiki School.

Crystal earned her M.Ed. in 1998. She has over 18 years of teaching experience in classical, Christian, and public schools, as well as 6 years of supervisory experience. Crystal serves as Principal of the lower school at the Kenya Village school.
